Understanding the Prostate

The prostate is a small gland in the male reproductive system (it produces seminal fluid). Usually, the prostate is about the size and shape of a walnut, and sits around the urethra (the tube that takes urine from the bladder to the penis), below the bladder, just in front of the rectum. 

When it comes to the prostate, it's important to tell your doctor if you have difficulty peeing, waking up in the night to go to the toilet, if you have pain/burning, pain when ejaculating, blood in the urine, etc.
